Innovative metal-plastic composite technology for large-format technical components
Hybrid Thermoforming Development Project
Hybrid thermoforming of large-area metal-plastic composites
Together with its partners, KROH Kunststofftechnik GmbH (now BURG Thermoforming GmbH), Bisingen, has developed a novel thermoforming process for the production-efficient manufacture of metal-plastic hybrid components. This joint project has focussed on researching the hybrid thermoforming of large-format components with thermal discharge properties.
Hybrid thermoforming stands for a combined thermoforming and joining process in which a metal insert is positioned in the forming tool and positively connected to the thermoformed plastic component during thermoforming.
The new process allows particularly high-performance technical thermoformed components to be produced without the need for extensive finishing.
